In the make-up chair with… Ever Anderson

The actress and model Ever Anderson is no stranger to the big screen. From starring in Marvel’s Black Widow and landing a leading role in David Lowery’s Peter Pan & Wendy, to featuring in campaigns and on magazine covers, the 16-year-old is making a splash in the worlds of film and fashion. Her latest accolade? Becoming the first face of Celine Beauté.

I meet the young creative at London’s Ham Yard Hotel, where she’s preparing for a shoot in celebration of the fashion house’s beauty debut. She’s curled up on a sofa in a tank top and shorts, an immaculate bold red lip in striking contrast to her casual attire.

“My favourite part of going out is getting ready,” Anderson tells me. “Hyping yourself up and doing your make-up – most of the time it ends up being more fun than the actual night! Usually, I get ready with some of my girlfriends and that anticipation of going to an event or party is just amazing.”

Her event preparation is elaborate, packed with self-care habits, from Korean face masks to soothing teas, she says. “A shower is game-changing for me when it comes to my confidence levels. I could be in bed all day and then I take a shower and I’m ready to take on the world. Take me to the party, take me anywhere. It makes you feel like a new human being.”

Like many of us, Anderson describes her relationship with make-up and skincare as a journey – specifically one that she shares with her mother, the Resident Evil actress and former fashion model, Milla Jovovich. “I get all of my beauty information from my mum,” she says. “She’s a big skincare girl. She and I will research a lot of K-beauty and visit stores that we really like. I have sensitive skin so certain products make me break out.”

Her upbringing means that Anderson is well versed in the world of fashion, too. “I would say that my signature style is evolving all the time,” she says. “At the moment, I have a very laid-back style; I think people on TikTok would call it ‘Downtown Girl’. For a long time, I really wanted to dress like Bella Swan from Twilight, but then I started really getting into heels and wearing my mom’s old vintage clothes. London and Paris are the cities I feel most inspired by.”

Despite her cinematic style references, Anderson notes that her main source of beauty inspiration sits closer to home. “My mum is definitely on my beauty moodboard,” she says. “I learned how to do make-up from her and I love the way that she does her own make-up. I also have Christy Turlington, Jane Birkin and Cindy Crawford on my moodboard, as well as Kate Moss and a lot of the nineties icons.”

The focal point of Anderson’s look in undoubtedly her make-up; think quintessentially French, blushed red lips in Celine’s signature timeless style. It is a look that the star credits entirely to the Le Rouge Celine Lipstick in Rouge Triomphe.

“It’s really nice to have a product like the Celine Le Rouge lipstick that you can use on your lips, your cheeks and your eyes and it lasts the whole day,” she explains. “It gives you that pretty, flushed look and, if you want, you can pair it with a grungier eye make-up look, which is what I did today.”

An in-store Harrods exclusive until 16 October, the Rouge Triomphe lipstick was lightly layered across Anderson’s lips and cheeks and diffused for a lived-in, statement colour.

“Becoming the face of Celine Beauté feels unreal, I’m so lucky to be able to have this opportunity,” she says. “Hedi Slimane was so nice to shoot with and it was just a dream; I really had a lot of fun. I’ve done campaigns before, but this was so different and so incredible because I love Celine’s fashion so much.”
