Among the top beauty trends seen at the 2024 Emmy Awards, statement blush and easy glamour ruled supreme. Palm Royale star and producer Kristen Wiig had each in spades on the red carpet Sunday night, thanks to an ethereal sun-kissed glow created by artist Jo Baker for Dior Beauty, which expertly complemented the actorās twinkling laser-cut Oscar de la Renta gown.
Itās easy to opt for a bolder makeup look to match the opulence of award season, but Baker explains that nowadays, the starās go-to red carpet glam is all about celebrating her natural beauty. āI think right now, Kristen is in an utter beauty revolution stage where she wants to be herselfāshe wants to be in her own skin,ā the artist tells Bazaar. āSheās comfortable, happy, and successful. I wanted to give her a beauty look that complements where sheās at in her life and her natural beauty, rather than giving her a themed look.ā
Ahead of makeup, Baker prepped Wiigās skin using ZO Skin Healthās Calming Toner and Growth Factor Eye Serum. The artist also reached for the brandās Brightalive Skin Brightener, which served as the base for Wiigās luminous complexion. āKristenās skin is gorgeous already, and itās pretty sun-kissed a lot of the time,ā Baker says. āI wanted a base that showcased her freckles and her natural flush.ā To further enhance the starās no-makeup makeup look, Baker applied Diorās Forever Glow Star Filter in #3 and then the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Multi-Use Foundation Stick in #4N exclusively to neutralize and perfect specific areas of Wiigās skin.
She finished the starās face makeup with Diorās Rouge Blush Colour & Glow in shade #257 Dioriviera, and the Dior Forever Skin Contour Stick in #3 Medium. For a bronzy eye, Baker applied the Diorshow 5 Couleurs palette in #343 Khaki and finished with a few swipes of Diorshow Mascara in #090 Black. Wiigās final beauty look was completed with a nude lip, starting with a hydration boost from Rouge Dior Balm in #000 Diornatural, plus color from their transfer-proof Rouge Dior Contour Lip Pencil in shade #310 Beige Tulle, and satin-finish Rouge Dior Lipstick in #200 Nude Touch.
āThe lip tone was really the hero for this look with the freckles,ā Baker adds. āHaving a nude with tan skin like this can often go kind of washed out. What I like about the new Dior #200 Nude Touch lipstick that I used on Kristen is that it has this richness and luxe texture. So youāve got this gorgeous pigment, but itās still nude. And itās packing a little bit of color with this peachy tea tone undertone, but it really is the hero of the look.ā
