MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Rainy weather loomed over 2024′s annual Brat Fest this past Memorial Day Weekend, leaving many avid brat fans, sponsors, entertainers and charities craving more.
Tim Metcalfe sat down with WMTV in August to talk about the event to satisfy these cravings. The world’s largest Brat Fest is holding a special event in September to help raise funds for the charities and to allow the bands to play that were not able to this past May.
“Brat-Tober” fest will take place Friday, September 20 through Sunday, September 22 at the Crystal Grand Music Theater.
Over 25 bands will perform throughout the weekend. Friday and Saturday performers are ticketed events, but Sunday features free live music all day. The famous brats will also be available around the venue.
Metcalfe is excited about the opportunity to make up for any lost fun at this year’s Brat Fest, especially because the indoor venue means the event will happen no matter the weather.
“It’s going to be a really great event,” said Metcalfe. “We’ve got some really great acts, and our charities and volunteers are going to be there so we’re going to be able to raise some money for them. They also lost and missed out on the 2024 event at the Alliant Energy Center because there were no fans to serve brats to. It’s really a win-win for everybody.”
Brat Fest typically has about 1,300 volunteers who earn $12 per hour to be donated to the charity of their choice.
