Finally gotten over your fears of blush blindness? Good, now the real fun can start. The latest tinted trend comes courtesy of TikTok, and takes its cues from the sweetest treat in the bakery: jelly donut blush.
What Is The Jelly Donut Blush Trend?
Taking TikTok by storm, jelly donut blush is a trend that sees beauty creators blend liquid highlighter and blush in a circular motion to create a glowy makeup look ā reminiscent of, you guessed it, a glazed jelly donut.Ā āThe idea is to recreate the appearance of a round, jelly-filled donut,ā confirms makeup artist Lan Nguyen Grealis. āThink round and shiny cheeks, flushed in shades of pink and berry red. Itās a fun microtrend, and it helps make the skin look and feel soft, plumped and youthful.ā

Where To Apply Jelly Donut Blush
āBlush is focused on the apples of the cheeks, avoiding the more common sweeping motions along the cheekbones,ā advises Lan. āYou want to apply product in more circular movements, like the ring of a donut.ā
What To Use
How To Recreate The Look At Home
Jelly donut blush can be achieved in three simple steps: apply highlighter in a small ring on the apples of the cheeks, place a dot of liquid blush in the middle and then blend it out in circular motions.
For more in-depth guide, Lan has you covered. āTo keep the focus on your blush, go for a more minimal look on the rest of your face,ā she says. āSoft, natural eyes and lips work best with this trend. Avoid mattifying products and powders and set with a hydrating setting spray for a dewy finish.ā

She lays out her step-by-step guide to recreating the jelly donut blush look below:
- Star the look by applying a primer if you want to create a smooth base and ensure your makeup lasts longer. Use a hydrating primer for a glowy finish.
- Use a light foundation or tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone. Keep the coverage natural, as the trend focuses on a fresh-faced look. And avoid using too much powder, as you want a dewy base for the blush.
- Create a small circle on the apple of each cheek with a liquid highlighter.
- Then use a cream or liquid blush in a pink, berry, or red shade that resembles jelly. Dot the blush in the middle of your āringā and build the colour to your desired intensity. The key is to keep the highest concentration of blush in the middle of the cheeks.
- You can also take a slightly different approach by layering highlighter over the blush. Just tap a little bit of highlighter onto the centre of the blush with your fingers or a sponge.
- Use a dewy setting spray to give your skin a luminous glow.
Can It Be Adapted For Different Skin Tones?
Jelly donut blush centres around a pop of colour with a dewy finish, so itās fairly easy to adapt to different skin tones. āItās all about blended out, bright colours,ā says Lan. āSo the more intense the colour the better.ā
